We had to force ourselves out of bed at 9.15 and be at the Plaza de España by 10.15am - a bit of a rush.
We were getting a bus to Toledo, a town about an hour drive away from Madrid.
We stopped at a viewpoint of the whole town and then at the old bridge which enters the town. It was so beautiful. Really old buildings, many cathedrals, mosques, synagogues and churches.
After having brunch which consisted of paella for Nicola and a plate of green beans for me (don't ask!) we were ready to take on the day!
Thw afternoon was spent exploring the winding streets and admiring the many impressive buildings. About 3pm the heat became too hot to bear and we had to sit down and get granizado de limon (icy lemon drink), which reminded me a lot of Barcelona!
Refreshed, we wandered round a bit more and found plenty of shady benches to rest every so often.
Luckily we found the bus stop where we had to meet at 6pm to return to Madrid. We are staying in a different hostel tonight and Nicola is not as impressed with this one as the last hostel. It's alright though, I'm sure we'll survive a night here.
For dinner we cooked the luxurious meal of rice and vegetables along with a big buffalo tomato that Nicola excitedly found earlier in the fruit and veg shop.
Tonight we went for a short walk before giving into the tiredness. We have walked 18km today, according to my trusty iPhone step counter, although that includes the dancing from last night!
Nicola has reminded me I forgot to include a vital detail of last night's events. Not only was she whisked around to salsa by a man she quickly discovered could not dance salsa she was also bought a rose from an admirer outside the bar. It can't have meant that much to her though considering she left it in our last hostel.

Caryn Toledo sounds an interesting place. Glad to hear that Nicola managed to get her tomato! It sounds very hot there (it is improving slightly here, at least the sun is out today) xxxx
