I am waiting in Porto airport ready to catch my flight back to Birmingham. I have had a great trip and visited more places than I ever imagined I would- including a country I didn't think I'd visit! I wanted to make the most of my last full day so I decided to walk to the beach. To get there I had to walk a long way around the river. The first part of my walk was very interesting because the Red Bull Race was taking place in Porto. There were thousands of people lined up against the river. Today I arrived at my final stop! I caught the 10.30 bus to Porto and arrived at 2pm. It was a bit of a walk to the hostel at the hottest point of the day, but I made it. I was very tired for some reason but I went for a pretty long walk around in the late afternoon/ evening. I walked down to the river where it was very lively and I saw a beautiful sunset. There were many tiny cobbled streets and interesting places to see along the way.

I got up and had a great breakfast again. Mandelise and I left about 9.30 to get the tube to Belem. A really nice neighbourhood where we saw the tower of Belem, the presidential palace, a monastery, a great view of the bridge and some other monuments. Also it is the home of the traditional pastel de nata, so we bought 2 from the shop. They came in a posh box and we we opened it later there were 3 in the box! We then got the train to Cascais, a nice seaside town....

Today I started the day eating the included breakfast at hostel which was great - freshly cooked pancakes, cereal, toast and crossiants. Then I did the walking tour on which started at the hostel. It was a really nice group of people. Near the beginning of the tour I was pooed on by a big pigeon, right on top of my head!!
