Matt and Ant's Travels
Hi guys, I'm sorry we haven't been updating this for a while but we have been so busy its been pretty hard to find the time. Diane I'm sorry you are getting withdrawl hopefully this bumper pack of entries will help. I am just going to do one long post as the connection is really rubbish so here goes..... We left Nukualofa on saturday and headed to the airport to catch our flight to the islands of Vava'u. We arrived at the airport and the first thing we saw was a really ricketty plane which could only hold about 6 people. We were all petrified at the prospect of flying especially as we had heard some horror stories about the airlines. It turned out that our plane was actually a slighlty bigger DC3 from world war 2 so we were a bit happier. To check in there were no security check at all but to be honest who would bomb the south pacific anyway? The only thing we had to do to check in was weigh our bags and the ourselves...as long a s you are not an obese Tongan you got away with it. The flight was pretty good and we flew so low we were able to see all the different islands of tonga really close up. We really are in paradise. I have a few photos from on the plane and will upload them all in Sydney as the connection here is just too slow and it would take hours. We arrived at the airport and were picked up by our hotel people and were taken to this very expensive hotel and shown to our back packers rooms. They were disgusting and we were paying a small fortune so we immediately checked out and after some drama we managed to check into the adventure backpackers which is lovely.
