(DAY 6)

Kia Ora!

We woke up to the sound of pouring rain but, for a change, this was strangely good news as we had been told the drive to Milford Sound, which was the plan for the day, was better in the rain. After a nice warm shower and a bowl of cereal, we started our two hour journey. The drive in the rain lived up to the expectations we'd been given as we were faced by multiple surging waterfalls with every corner we turned. When we arrived at Milford Sound we had a quick walk around, stood by the water and warmed ourselves up with a hot chocolate but decided against a boat trip, although we'd been told it's a must, as it didn't really fit into our budget.

Once we'd finished our hot chocolates, we embarked on the same beautiful journey back - not through choice but as there's only one road in and out of Milford Sound. However, a change to our plans meant we were driving to Queenstown rather than back to Te Anau.

After about four hours we arrived by late afternoon and found ourselves a spot in a holiday park. We decided to chill out for the evening rather than venture into town, so we watched a film on the laptop after Kie had made some yummy omelettes.
