Kia Ora!

We left Christchurch early afternoon for our first destination, Lake Tekapo, which is roughly 226km and about a three and a half hour drive. It took us closer to five hours as we stopped off for a big shop, a McDonalds - as a last treat - and we stopped off numerous times to admire the spectacular scenery as well as to get some photos. The scenery got even better when we arrived and saw the lake surrounded by beautiful mountains and clear skies.

We set up our camper for the night at the Lake Tekapo Holiday Park and, after a quick meal of noodles, went to bed for what was to be an awful nights sleep! We assumed we would be warm enough with just our silk liners for bedding, as the camper didn't come with bedding itself - how wrong we were! We were both the coldest we've ever been and as a result had little to no sleep whatsoever.
