After breakfast, we headed to Reykjavik botanical gardens, a statues museum, the famous viking ship statue on the beach and the cathedral. We then hurried to Keflavik, checked in the hotel, and went on a drive in the area - the bridge between two continents, a lighthouse, lava fields and the stunning Blue Lagoon. We then returned to the hotel and our car was picked up. What a way to end our visit to stunning Iceland!

We started the long drive from Akureyri to Retkjavik with sunny skies. We went to Osar, to see the seals colony but were struck by a blizzard and had to give it a miss. We then continuedtowards the Barnafoss and Hraundfossar waterfalls. Part of the way was blocked by a freak blizzard, but we somehowmanaged to get to the gorgeous blueish-greenish falls. As yesterday had been a tad too hectic and due to the weather, we decided to spend the day in this small and picturesque town. With less than 20000 people living here, this is a tiny town and it takes less than 10 minutes to walk from one side of it to the other. Still, we had a nice calm day touring the town, the frozen botanical gardens, the harbor and the main church. Tomorrow we have a tough 400 km drive back to Reykjavik. Fingers crossed! :-)

We left Egilsstadir heading north. The weather was rather grumpy and we hit a blizzard going to Dettifoss. We barely arrived to the park and started walking towards to waterfall. Unfortunately, the wind was too much for us. We then drove to the Viticrater, but were unable to reach it due to the weather. Today was all about nature watching. First we we t on a drive by the long lake next to town. Then we we t to see Hengifoss fall, which was too difficult to reach. We later started driving in the beautiful eastern fjords. We ended the day in the stunning village of Seydisfjordur, where we had an early dinner. Tomorrow we are off to the north.
