Zvi Josef's Travels
20:30 update.
After almost avacuating Ami to a hospital last night (we thought he had a small fracture in his left foot), I suggested to try and change his posture a bit, and amazingly enough - it worked!
Today we managed to walk apx. 22000 steps withough almost any stress at all. :)
We started our day "early" and left the hotel at noon. We wanted to go to the Temple Of Heaven, but due to some disinformation we read in a guide book, we travelled to a wrong station and had to walk for ages (we finally took a cab). Along the way, we mistakingly discoveredQianmen street, which is a 2 km long restored street, that now looks the same as the place looked 600 years ago (only with dozens of shops, which were all very nice). The Temple Of Heaven itself was nice, but we only got into the huge grden, walked for about an hour and a half, and then took the subway to the Olympic stadium.
Well, what can I say - the Chinese outdid themselves - the stadium and its surroundings are AMAZING. The area is SO vast that it takes an hour to walk from one end of it to the other. While we did not go into the stadium, we went into the Water cube, which holds 2 huge olympic pools, a water park and other exhibits, too.
The entire area is PACKED with people, playing with kites, selling stuff, just walking - amazing!!!
Then began a 90-minute commute back to the hotel via 5 (count 'em - 5!) subway lines, plus a taxi. :)
Home sweet home (but away from home).
We're now off to the shower and then to dinner.
We'll probably NOT go to the Great wall tomorrow, but rather do something a bit lighter on the strain effort. :)
Later, then.
