Happy Father's Day to the Dads!
Today we went to Bukit Nanas rainforest, which is a rainforest at the foot of the KL Menara tower in the centre of KL. 11 hectares of rainforest preserved for you to trek about for free. Paul's photo featured is one of a Durian tree with a squirrel type creature feeding on it. The durian fruit has a terrible reputation in asia for its pungent smell. There are often signs on buses and in lifts saying "No Durians". It was particularly humid in the rainforest, A small section is covered by a canopy walkway. Paul saw a couple of macaques, I missed them. About half way round there was a sign warning us of the poisonous snake, jumping spider and centipede - a little too late I think! After our sweaty trek around the rainforest we walked back via Chinatown and Little India (Mosjid Jamek), we stopped for a drink in a Petaling street restaurant and saw some more wildlife - an enormous rat. After that we walked through to Dataran Merdeka (Independence square) home of one of the world's tallest flagpoles 95m. This square is flanked by the mock-tudor colonial Royal Selangor Club. Our little KL adventure is now coming to an end, tomorrow morning we set off for Angkor Wat in Cambodia. A day off blogging tomorrow.
