So I've now finished in the hospital! I don't think I'll miss it too much. There was some fun times where I got to clerk, do cannulas etc...but there were also times where I was a little bored.
My last shift was a good one. The dr I was with let's me clerk all the patients and then just present so the morning went nice and quickly. I did however get asked numerous questions between patients such as 'so why don't you have a boyfriend' because I'm too busy at the moment and I've not meant a potential applicant. Apparently not having a boyfriend at 22 is unheard of. I also got asked why I like the beach so much. Because they are beautiful and I'm kind of on holiday; a summer holiday means lying on a beach. I also pointed out that this tan has taken a lot of beach work. He then asked why I liked having a tan...because it's nice and makes me feel skinnier? I then went on to explain how in the uk lots of people fake tan, I'm not quite sure he understood this one. I think this dr liked me though he gave me a hug when I left.
My final memory of the hospital will be as follows. I'm changed into shirts and a tshirt, just bought my Thursday banana bread treat from one of the stalls and go to the bench outside the hospital entrance to find my sunglasses and organise my bag before the sweaty long walk. 'doctor, doctor' I don't responses, I'm Norma doctor. 'doctor doctor' I turn to see a gentlemen skills at me. He then goes onto tell me how I look different from how I do in the hospital (well yes i don't wear shorts in there and I don't have a stethoscope and White coat outside). He then goes on to explain that he's had to come back to a&e as he's sat on a toilet seat and it's given him a rash over his arse. I don't recall ever meeting this man before. But I smile, reassure him that they'll sort it out and wish him well. I then begin my final walk home down the risiculous steep hill that makes me right knee hurt a lot.
In other news...the weather is still cloudy and rather miserable. We popped over to this batik shop that's a few mins away and we have been meaning to visit now for nearly 4 weeks. I then realise it's full of beautiful things from jewellery to paintings etc...I buy a rather cure photo album which the pages are made of home made paper and a scarf that I'll wear a lot at home. I thought I needed a couple of souvenirs for my month spent in Tobago.
We are going to pidgeon point tomorrow what ever the weather looks like! If it rains we will just have to get wet.
