Arrived yesterday morning back in Hanoi, this time for the last time though. Well that was an eventful first Vietnamese train experience. Ended up being flustered into letting this Vietnamese guy 'help' me onto the train and he kindly stole phone. So Steve left yesterday. I've had an insanely amazing two weeks traveling with him. Its rare to meet people, who have literally grown up on opposite sides of the world, who just click. Was a bit of a sad goodbye, but I have a feeling I'll be seeing him again. A couple who we met at the cooking class in Hoi An, are also here in Haoni, so met up with them last night for some drinks and street food, which was nice. We had a few hours in Hanoi before getting on our over night bus to Sapa. Arrived this morning around 6:30am after a fairly good nights sleep. This was a much better bus company, and the toilets didn't smell at all. Got a taxi to the hotel where we were keeping our luggage for the day and also had breakfast. Well Halong Bay, I feel so lucky that I've had the opportunity to go and see it with my own eyes. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and even though we didn't have the best weather (just kind of misty) it was still absolutely stunning. There's around 2000 limestone karsts and isles sprinkled around the water in all different shapes and sizes. All topped with thick jungle vegetation, rising spectacularly out of the ocean.
