We had a few hours in Hanoi before getting on our over night bus to Sapa. Arrived this morning around 6:30am after a fairly good nights sleep. This was a much better bus company, and the toilets didn't smell at all.
Got a taxi to the hotel where we were keeping our luggage for the day and also had breakfast. The restaurant had gorgeous views of the mountains we were set within. So high that we were above the low rising clouds, so had gorgeous blue skies. Think we struck gold with the weather today, it's been clear all day.
After breakfast we were collected by our guide and a mass of village women to start our trek. We walked to Muong Hoa Valley, through rice terrace, which unfortunately this time of year aren't in harvest. Instead of being lush green, they are just brown. However, the incredible pretty patterns of the rice fields flowing through the mountains, you can still appreciate how beautiful it is. It was another great experience, and so hot, I actually got sun burnt.
We continued to walk through a few local villages (Ylinhho Village and Lao Chai Village). They all wear traditional tribal clothing, which was really funky. Had lunch near the Muong Hoa River, before our final leg of the journey towards our pick up car.
Headed into Sapa's little town when we got back. Sat on the steps of the square and watched locals play volleyball (they love it out here) and soaked up the last bit of the suns rays.
Back on a bus now, for our 6 hour journey back to Hanoi. Was mine and Steve's last day together, and it certainly wasn't a bad way to spend it.
