So my time in Da Lat has been so nice. Journey here was absolutely fine, apart from one of my flips flops (which I've managed to keep since the start) fell out of the open door on the bus... Gutted!
Had a chilled day after arriving, had a little walk round to try and find some toiletries. Very hard as this is not a tourist place at all, so no English really. Big change to what I've had so far, but got there in the end though. Then the whole hostel went out to a local restaurant for some local BBQ food, was so tasty and really nice to get to know everyone.
Up early yesterday to go canyoning. 8 of us from the same dorm all went together which was really nice. Was a fantastic day. We did 2 dry abseils, 2 waterfall abseils, 2 water slides and a cliff jump. Abseiling down a waterfall is so hard. Couldn't go all the way to the bottom so 4 meters from the water we had to let go and jump backwards, winded me so bad but was so fun. Then almost died doing the cliff jumping. There was a 7ft and 11ft jump. Did the 7ft then thought I'd give the 11ft a go. But the cliff wasn't flat so to make sure you cleared all the rocks you had to jump about 2 meters out from the cliff. Anyway I got my footing wrong and in a panic, heisted, slipped and nearly fell down but luckily stopped at the edge, oops. Only a few scratches thank god. On a whole though I had the best time.
Our hostel really has been amazing (Sleep in dalat hostel). It's ran by a family and you just feel like they have opened up their home to you. They cooked us all a big family Vietnamese dinner and then one of the girls took us out. We went karaoke (they love it here) and I'm not going to lie, I LOVED it. My family will know how much I kick up a fuss about not going karaoke. Well I could not get enough last night. We had our own private room and lots of beers and singing, followed by a bar after to play some pool. Really was a great evening.
Today has been nice and relaxed. Did some shopping to get some warmer clothes as heading north and sadly out of the heat. Went to a cute cafe called 'bicycled up' to meet a guy from last night. Ended up spending the day together and walking round Da Lat. It's a very nice peaceful place, definitely glad I made it part of my trip.
All packed up again now though and ready to go on my easy-rider tour starting tomorrow morning. Heading to Nha Trang and it's going to take us three days. The guy I was with today is going and also another girl from my hostel, so it's a nice little group now and I'm really excited to see some off the trail parts of Vietnam.
