Today is haaary pottttter day
Tickets booked, just filling the day with gluten free cake and hired bikes.
Orewa is flat and the cakes are wicked.
Will fill in about the film later.
Today after a well deserved slow start we hired bikes. They were not the sleek, sporty, brilliant bikes we hired in croatia- in fact they looked stolen. We had to wear safety helmets which was cool as my sun hat would have blown off in the wind and Steve's was perfectly co ordinated with his bike.
However the bike ride was great fun although Steve struggled to keep up with me- he was busy map reading but I had spotted the painted footprints that showed the route (and to be fair Kiwi maps are like Irish maps- an approximation). We found a great coffee shop who sold lovely GF cakes.
We had a fun chat with some road work guys- they told us to cycle on the pavement as we might get 'squished'. I love the way Kiwi''s speak. They say the weather is getting slippery and on the news said there was a lot of pashing going on.
Tonight we went to the pictures and that was great. Hermione is my heroine. Me and Steve had to hold hands when Dobbie died. When the film finished we were stunned.
I have been thinking alot about Tsunamis- it isn't long ago that I wouldn't have known what one is. Now I have travelled to a country where they have tsunami emergency plans. There are notices about places to go to get high and the other night a siren sounded- we didn't know what it was for but I thought Tsunami? Well we ignored it as you do and we were fine. Today I am wondering if being on the 11th floor is high enough? Would we be higher than the wave but it takes out the bottom of the building? I find its best not to think about these things so I am looking at the view instead ( and maybe just checking for high areas). Its a nurse thing.
