The bus journey was absolutely horrendous. The recline on my seat was broken meaning that every time I feel asleep in a reclined position I woke up about half an hour later up right. We arrived into Puno at 4am after being told we would arrive at 6. With no hostel to go to and the office of our tour not open until 7 we were stuck at the cold bus station until then. It wasn't long before I was in my sleeping bag on the station floor asleep. I woke up at about half six in a much busier station with people staring at me. Hazy eyed, we sorted ourselves out and got a taxi to the office. There was a cafe next to it so we grabbed some breakfast and got to the office for 7. About 7.15 a girl came running round the corner late and opened up the office. It took the piss a bit because as soon as she opened up she rushed us saying we were running late. Finally we got rushed into the bus and went round all the hostels picking up the other people on our tour. We got taken to the port and put on the boat and set off. There were a lot of couples and the tour guide was pretty boring so I just stuck my iPod in and chilled for an hour until we reached the floating island. Once docked up we sat around and got told about the history and how they made it etc. Then all the girls got dressed up and we were made to walk around and look at all the crap they were selling. Everyone else was pretty into it but me and Dice just sat back down and waited to leave. The next stop was the 'capital ' of the floating islands, basically just a few shops. We got tricked into taking a traditional boat there which was a big wicker rowing boat. The boat was pretty cool but sooo slow and it cost us 5 soles each for the 'pleasure!' At the capital we bought some of drink for the party that night set sail to the next island where we would meet our family. This was gunna take about three hours so I took this time to catch up on some sleep on the boat roof. When we got there we were greeted by about 7 families who were going to take the gringos in. We were last to meet our family, a young lady with a little boy. As we had beers in our hands our 'mum' made us carry another create up to her house which was sitting at the port. Both the lady and boy were pretty shy to begin with but when we got back to the house the boy, alex, came out of his shell a bit and we played football with him until lunch along with having a potato fight. When lunch came it started off with a horrible soup. Luckily we were eating on our own on the balcony so the majority of it went over the wall into next doors garden. The next course was a potato salad with a slab of squeaky cheese. When I say potato salad I mean about 6 different types of potato and a tomato. I polished the majority of that off and we then left our family to meet the rest of the group to watch sunset on top of the island. After this we came back to the families and waited for dinner to be cooked. We cracked a few beers and had a few rum and cokes. For dinner we had the same soup, but being in kitchen we had to eat all of it, next was a potato salsa thing with rice which was alright. Double carbs! During dinner was the first time I got a sense of the family. By then the dad was back from work, obviously knackered. There wasn't much talking going on. The kitchen was in the same room as two beds so the dad was laying on his bed texting while the mother was serving up dinner to him, us and their three children. It also seemed that everyone had their course before the mother could even start hers. All in all, the situation seemed quite sad with the only exception being Alex the little three year old. Afterwards we had a little more drink and played with Alex until he got tired (which is when the photo was taken which explains why it looks more like a terrorist ransom photo) We then got given a poncho to wear and went to a little party they had organised. It wasn't until we got to the party and sat on a bench (which made our legs go into the poncho) I realised that Dysons brown poncho made him look the complete spitting image of a human turd. This insult didn't get boring for me especially when I stole a dance off the mother from him and he sat back down on the bench, now a miserable looking human turd. The dancing was much like hoe down dancing and the party finished about half nine.... Crazy I know! Afterwards we went back to the house and went to sleep. Next day we woke up and had an alright breakfast and headed three hours in the boat to another island where we waited around for an hour or so and was forced to buy a s***ty lunch. We then headed home making that last island a complete waste of time. We got back to Puno at about four and headed out for a pizza for dinner and then back to catch an early night. The following day we didn't really do much during the morning, just waited for the champions league final which was pretty decent. About half way through a guy called mike came up and joined us until the end. We all headed out for meal after the game. Dyson felt I'll so went back to the hostel while me and Mike went to a bar and played drinking Jenga with some Aussies until about 11. The following morning we had to get up at half six for our seven o'clock bus to Copacabana.
