It has been a while since the last update, so it's time to write something new. Life in China is becoming more and more normal every day, so it is time to go off campus and visit a new city.
Since the last update not much has changed. School in general is going well, with some ups and downs, and I am not bored in my free time. I'm regularly going to REAL and attend English corners and other activities. Last week they had a Halloween party with some games, food, drinks and music. Of course it's hard to compare any event with the same event in Europe, but this one was pretty good.
Chinese food was pretty strange for me in the beginning, but right now it's actually okay. I'm not surprised anymore to see pig's or chicken legs, different organs of animals and eating unknown food is also not a problem. It tastes like meat, no matter what kind of meat. Still I haven't tried anything that I really didn't like and I didn't become sick yet, so I think everything is fine so far. Let's hope it will stay like that.
A few days ago we got the opportunity to leave campus and to travel to another city. A Finnish-Chinese evening will be organized by some Finnish universities and we were invited by our university to join. Because we are only with three students in our class we first had to ask the international office if it would be okay if all of us go there, but that was no problem. So we booked the tickets and were ready to go.
We left the campus on today and first took the bus to the city center and then we were waiting for the train for a while. We took the train in the evening at 5 o'clock and we the ride takes about 12 hours. The distance isn't that bad, but the high speed train (four hours) or taking the airplane (less than two hours) is more expensive. So we decided to take the slower night train. It's not that bad; we took some food from the supermarket (yes, the noodles from the photo) and had a bed to sleep. So good night for now and soon it will be early morning in Shanghai.
