The first rainy day in Jinan meant another day at home, making photos of the apartment and executing some household tasks.
Today was as lazy as yesterday, or maybe even lazier. In the morning I was my own housewife and was cleaning my room and doing the laundry. Then I also found out that I don't really have any photos of the apartment to show you.
So then I became a photographer, of course after being sure of the cleanliness of the room, and took some photos of the mansion. It is just over one year old and especially built for international students and teachers. I have a two-person room for myself, so I have everything double. Two desks, wardrobes, beds and so on. It also has a pretty large balcony; and I am living on the third floor.
The apartment building is located in the center of the campus, near the west wall. It is at the end of a dead-end road so it is pretty quiet. On the other side of the street are a few very small shops, like a mini-supermarket, a China Mobile shop, small post office and something else but I don't remember.
At the end of the street, so basically the beginning of the dead-end street is one of the three restaurants of the university, three supermarkets, a bank, a pharmacy and all the sport facilities. They have about 30 basketball fields, 8 tennis courts, 8 volleyball courts, one beach volleyball beach, an athletics track and a few football fields.
On the other side of the sports fields is another restaurant with some shops and about 20 table tennis tables. Then a bit further away from where I live is the third restaurant with a few shops. Besides these areas with shops near the restaurants, there are several places with just some shops, mainly supermarkets. So actually I don't have to go off campus to get something.
If I am going off campus, there are two gates which I use most often. There is the south gate and the east gate. The south gate I only use to go to the bus, there is nothing else over there. Across the street from the east gate is the so called 'business street'. That is like the Chinatown from television, a lot of small shops, street food, restaurants, KTV's and so on. This is where I'm usually going for dinner and for shopping. There is a lot of choice in food and one year probably isn't enough to try all the places. Up until today I went to a different place to eat every day.
That's all for today, plus I've uploaded some photos of my apartment. It's maybe not very interesting, but take a look if you're curious about where I'll be residing coming year.
