Monday 30th July
We left Yerecoin today after stopping at the general store to pay the required donation of $15 which was well worth the facilities provided.
Continuing our trek towards the west coast we drove 151km to a town called Coorow and thought we might stop and have coffee and buy a sandwich or pie for a change. No shop in sight that sold food other than a small general store. Ross spied some flags outside a hall so we went for a look. The CWA had decided that as the town had no café they would offer coffees, morning tea and lunches to the public. We were there only customers at the time so we had a coffee each, soup and a roll and shared a focaccia. The ladies were very helpful advising us about a place called Milligan Island camping ground and how to get there. We drove another 118km and that is where we are camped now. Just a fabulous spot with only sand dunes separating us from the Indian Ocean and spectacular scenery
Tuesday 31st July
A beautiful day today where our tracksuits were discarded for shorts and light tops.
We went to Green Head to have a look around. It is a lovely seaside town with some really beautiful homes. We also saw Dynamite Bay where the surf coming in makes an explosive sound as it hits another wave. See the photo album for some lovely photos of Milligan Island ocean views as well as Dynamite bay.
Wednesday 1st August
We were up at three this morning being buffeted by gale force winds and rain. It is now 4.30pm and the wind hasn't stopped with occasional very scary gusts that rock the van from side to side. Looking at the radar there are some storms forming out at sea and making their way to the Jurian Marine Park which is where this camp ground is situated. I have my eye on sitting in the car if the thunderstorms arrive with wind gusts like we have had. This is not the kind of adventure we had in mind when we set off on our trip. Right now it is pretty calm. Is it the calm before the storm? I will let you know tomorrow
Thursday 2nd August
Little wind last night but lots of very heavy rain. I think we were both so tired from last night that with no wind to rock the van we slept like babies from 8.30pm to 6.30am.
