Driving from Charters Towers to Cloncurry to refuel and then up the Burke developmental Road on the way to Normanton is an experience in itself, especially the Burke Developmental road. For those of you who may follow in our footsteps and travel in a caravan around this beautiful country of ours such as Ross and I do then there is one thing I must touch on and that is using toilets at designated sleep over rest stops

We are now in Charters Towers, Qld, which has some beautiful old buildings. Climate here is usually quite warm, average of 27c. On Wednesday when we arrrived temp was 25c, just nice. On the way to Mount Morgan to see Ross' brother we found two great freedom camping sites which asked for a small donation to keep the sites going. One was at Mitchell at the John Walton Reserve which is a large reserve on the banks of the Mitchell river. We had access to taps for water and flushing toilets. The next one was at Theodore right in the town. It had flushing toilets and hot showers which cost a dollar for as long as you wanted. We came for one night...

We left home on Tuesday 11th June. Halfway down Bayly St we had to turn back to pick up some Anderson plugs Ross had left on the bench. After this we finally got on the road and headed up Kidman Way to Naranderra where we free camped at the tower of the Old brewery Lincoln Oaklands. Not much happening here as we visit Ross's brother Alan and Sister in law Alma in Mt Morgan. They were very pleased to see us. We went to one of the local pubs for lunch yesterday and Ross's nephew Steven came up too. It was great to catch up on family news. Ross and I went for drive to Rockhampton today.
