We came on the Pacific Sunrise on Wednesday afternoon and every bit of it has been amazing. There are 17 guests on the boat and 4 crew, all are really nice and easy to get along with, which is pretty good as you can't get away from each other except to sleep!!! We've had the most fantastic time sailing around the Whitsundays on this boat, it's an old fashioned wooden sail boat and has been totally restored by Dan the captain. He's done a great job and it's all fitted out really nicely. We've spent the last few days sailing in between the islands (there are 74 in total) and have spent the days snorkelling, sunbathing or playing on a beach somewhere!! Idyllic. Not being a fan of the sea ( well the things in it anyway) I wasn't too sure about the snorkelling bit, especially as we had to wear stinger suits incase of the jellyfish, but I was proved wrong, it has been the best snorkelling I have ever done and being so close to the barrier reef we have seen some amazing fish. We've seen beautiful corals, lobsters, zebra fish amongst others, Rich even saw a fish that was bigger than he was!!
We went to the best beach in the islands called Whitehaven beach, which is pure white sand, gorgeous turquoise waters and bordered by rainforest. You have to walk for about 20 mins through the forest to get to the beach but it's well worth it when you get there. We didn't see any marine life but did frollick in the waves and laze on the beach.
The whole trip has been great from start to finish, exactly what we expected and more. The food was amazing, cooked by one person in a little galley kitchen, 3 courses every night and the company was good too. They didn't even mind when Rich beat them at Poker!!
It's back to reality now though, back in the van and heading up north once more to Magnetic Island.
