We arrived in Port Douglas on Monday after spending the weekend in Cape Tribulation. Cape Trib is in the rainforests north of Cairns and is a really remote wilderness, mainly just trees and beaches, nothing else except a few hostels really. We spent a couple of days there just going for walks and looking for wildlife, most unlike us!! We did manage to see a crocodile, a snake, some spiders, a frill lizard (about 1m in length), a cassowary (big bird similar to an emu) and lots of frogs and toads. It was a pretty cool place. We did have some adventure though when we went Jungle Surfing, which is basically swinging through the top of the rainforest canopy on ropes, sounds a bit like tarzan but we were fully dressed!! It was good fun except the bit where they threw us upside down - quite scary!!!
Port Douglas is a really nice coastal town with lots of boutique shops and places to eat, it's really nice although we leave tomorrow to go back to Cairns where we sleep and then leave for Fiji at 5.30am on Thursday. Not looking forward to getting Rich up for that one!! I am very much looking forward to Fiji though, it's supposed to be amazing.
