We had a a busy one today! We got up and went to collect our tin can masquerading as a car from down the road. After going to fill it with petrol (which cost £8!) we headed off to the cable car. This was just under 1000 metres long and had good views of the archipelago and the forested hills of the main island and the seven wells waterfall. We had a lazy day today and got up a bit later and went to a lovely cafe for brunch. We then took a wander down the main street to have a look at all the touristy shops and restaurants there. We're going on a cookery course tomorrow so we confirmed that and the restaurant we're going to for evening cocktails following the course looks great! We were up early this morning to catch our ferry to Langkawi. The journey took around 3 hours and so we were at our guest house by mid-day after a short taxi ride. It's a lovely place, very basic but just right for our needs! There is an honesty bar which is a lovely touch and a little plunge pool. Our third day in Georgetown and what a day! We went to Cheong Fatt Tze's mansion in the morning and it was spectacular. Our guide was amazing and made the tour really fun and informative. There was so much to see and so much history behind the house. The mansion's floor plan is essentially Chinese and many of the features of it are based on the concepts of feng shui. Today we wanted to go to visit a famous Chinese bloke's mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze) but as tours are at set times we decided to leave this for tomorrow and head down the street towards all the markets and hawker stalls on Jalan Penang.
