Our third day in Georgetown and what a day! We went to Cheong Fatt Tze's mansion in the morning and it was spectacular. Our guide was amazing and made the tour really fun and informative. There was so much to see and so much history behind the house. The mansion's floor plan is essentially Chinese and many of the features of it are based on the concepts of feng shui. Still it's quite an eclectic place and the floor tiles are from Stoke-on-Trent (where else?!) and...

Today we wanted to go to visit a famous Chinese bloke's mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze) but as tours are at set times we decided to leave this for tomorrow and head down the street towards all the markets and hawker stalls on Jalan Penang. We also had a look at the the Komptor complex which is the tallest building in the city. Georgetown is a bustling little place and I like it a lot. Today we were up early and got the bus from the Cameron highlands to Georgetown in Penang. We've booked our transfers though tour companies and they have been excellent so far. The only thing I don't think I'll get used to are the loos en route in the service stations! They're very clean, but are just holes in the ground with no loo roll in sight, just a hose!!
