After a leisurely morning of laundry, internetting etc we went back into Perth to today to visit SciTech. It's really a children's museum dedicated to science, but it suited me down to the ground! Only problem was, it was full of kids! We spent the afternoon mooching and picking up odds and ends we thought would be more difficult to come by in Asia. So last night we checked in with Duffy one last time and had a lovely Italian meal just opposite the spot where a Great White had reportedly munched a man just off Cottesloe beach that day! We ate beef cheek fettucini and linguini with crab and chilli, and Duffy treated us to a suburb bottle of Barossa Valley Shiraz. Today the weather was much better so we headed off on the 9.45 ferry with our picnic lunch to Rottnest Island. 'Rotto' is well known for it's beautiful bays and beaches and it didn't dissappoint! It's also known for its wildlife, including the quokka, which is a very little kangaroo. It was mistaken for a large rat when europeans first visited the island (hence its name which means rat's nest in Dutch) but it's not a rat at all and they are much nicer than rats!...

So we both had slightly sore heads this morning after celebrating and commiserating after the ireland vs wales game! We also woke up to the most horrible weather! Torrential down pour and high winds. Not great weather for a Rottnest experience so we postponed the trip until tomorrow and instead we visited Fremantle markets (which were excellent!) and bought our packed lunch for tomorrow, watched the other quarter finals (both interesting games!) and had fish and ...

After a short wander round Denmark we headed for Albany this morning. It's a cute place and one of the oldest settlements in WA. It was once famous for it's whaling but is now more famous for it's whale watching. Sadly the whales have already moved on this year (we were lucky to see them at Cape Naturaliste) so we didn't stay long and decided to try and make it to Fremantle after visiting some of the natural attractions in the area such as a spectacular natural b...
