Today we had an excursion to the Mekong Delta which was absolutely fascinating. We had a two hour drive south to catch a boat and then cruised the Mekong River it is so large. The Delta is one of the main gateways for products to be bought in to the country and then taken to the towns and cities. The tour included lunch in a lovely old French Colonial restaurant. We arrived in Vietnam Friday afternoon to find Christmas had beaten us to the hotel. After settling in we went for a walk around the local area but found the hotel is quite away from the city centre with not many restaurants or shops. Today we went on a tour of the city the War Remnants Museum was enlightening, quite a few of the city buildings have French architecture due to the French colonising Saigon a few hundred years ago.
