Woke to bright skies this morning and set out on foot to explore the Citadel and Imperial City about 2km from our hotel. The Citadel was heavily bombed by the Americans but the restoration project is well under way and there is plenty to see. We moved onto Hue this morning. Very sad to leave beautiful Hoi An and wave goodbye to the lovely people at the Riverside Hotel. We're coming to the end of our time in Hoi An now having enjoyed every moment. The people have been so lovely and greet us as old friends now as we walk around the town. We booked another cooking class for our final evening so can add fresh spring rolls, vegetable curry and chicken in a parcel to our recipe book! An early start today as we had booked a tour to My Son, a collection of 4th century temples situated about 1.5 hours drive from Hoi An Once again we managed to beat the crowds and amazingly the sun shone so we saw this fantastic place at it's very best. The temples are constructed from bricks with no mortar and the jury is still out on how this was achieved. Back to the hotel by mid afternoon for a well earned rest before dinner on the terrace. Saturday we visited the beach and have posted a picture for all those that have visited this lovely place, to show how it looks at the tail end of a Typhoon!! The photo doesn't really show the size of the waves crashing on to the shoreline. There are attempts to try and preserve the beach and palm trees but the erosion is taking place in front of our eyes, such a shame. We have met a range of people who have given us tips for our next stops, always useful!
