Woke to bright skies this morning and set out on foot to explore the Citadel and Imperial City about 2km from our hotel. The Citadel was heavily bombed by the Americans but the restoration project is well under way and there is plenty to see. As we are out of the main season there were very few other visitors - great for photo opportunities. The Imperial City was modelled on the Forbidden City in Beijing on a much smaller scale and it was fascinating to learn of the Emperor having one hundred wives, many concubines, holding annual sacrifices to the gods and eating up to 30 courses for lunch right up 1925!
We found a great place for dinner - Nina's Cafe, rated by trip advisor which hasn't let us down yet.
Finally did our accounts for the seven nights in Hoi An and found we have spent an average of £18.73 per day. We did have breakfast included at the hotel but the £18 included trips, two cooking courses, all other food and drinks plus a cocktail or two!
