Makena / Big Beach.......this beach is in South Maui and is quite impressive with a very long sandy beach. Lots of fun "people watching" along this beach. Large crashing waves coming in here. Beautiful weather with temps in the low 80's!! This beach is about an hour from Kaanapal. South Maui has beautiful beaches!!

We have now moved to our new condo at Kaanapali Royal and we will be here for the remainder of our time in Maui. We spent the evening with Guy and Linda and they are heading back to MN tomorrow. They have given us all their tips about Maui as they have been coming here for quite a few years. It was a fun evening!

Tonight we had dinner at "Aloha Mixed Plate". It was a fun evening with friends from MN celebrating Jay's BD. We have eaten here a few times and enjoy the casual atmosphere.

The sunsets are beautiful in Hawaii!! This is a sunset over the island of Lana'i which is 9 miles off the Maui coast. We had another great day of snorkeling right by our resort. We swam across the reef and the coral was great and again had 3 large turtles to swim with and a good variety of fish. We were told the sharks here are nocturnal eaters so we would be safe. With a bit of apprehension we proceeded?!?! Our weather has continued to be great in the low ...

Today we went snorkeling at "Black Rock" and it was everything they say it is, with lots of fish and great clarity. What we were most excited about were the sea turtles....we had 3 of them to swim with. They are very huge measuring at least 3 feet across and have no fear of people and we were often face to face with them. We look forward to checking out other snorkeling spots but we know we'll be back to this location.
