Tom woke up feeling slightly hungover this morning after having too much to drink yesterday afternoon, not great considering we were booked onto a wine tour this afternoon. We checked into the YHA and luckily we had the 3 bod dorm to ourselves. Tom was now feeling better so we had some lunch and waited to be picked up for our tour.

There were eight of us in total and we were taken to four wineries in the Hawkes Bay region. The first was slightly pretentious, the second was much nicer, we got given a healthy measure of wine to taste and we even got offered some locally made oils and mustards, at the third winery we told there would be pizzas available if we were hungry and unfortunately the rest of the time spent there was more focused on the food than the wine. We were given the smallest possible measure of wine to taste and when we were asked which variety of the white we would like to try Tom said "both of course, I thought we were here to taste wine not eat pizza". Needless to say we didn't buy a pizza but did finish off what the others didn't eat. By the time we arrived at the final winery we tried to make the most of the wines and managed to get a bottle taken away from us by the owner!

We got dropped back off at the hostel unfortunately still sober and headed straight to the supermarket to buy a bottle and use our new found knowledge. We had a quiet night an watched Lethal Weapon in the TV room.
