When we got into Dresden we looked outside the train station and were a little disappointed, we didn't expect much and our first view wasn't promising. However, once we arrived at the old part of the city everything changed. Dresden is one of those cities where every corner you turn you see something more amazing than the last street. For about 10 minutes, everytime we got to the next street it just kept getting better. The museums and cathedrals are all magnificent and well restored since the war. The castle in Dresden is one of the best we've seen, it had a wall around the courtyard and you could walk on top of the wall for some really good city views. From the river, the views of the city and the big buildings only gets better and by the time we left the city Dresden was one of our favorite cities in Germany, maybe next to only Berlin. We'll have to give a shout out to Rick Steves, our favorite travel guide, for inspiring us to come to a city which we didn't really have a whole lot of interest. We were only there for half a day, but it was definitely worth the trip.
