Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
By time we repacked we didn't leave until 11. We stopped in at Hungry Jacks at Bathurst, as if you buy a kids meal they get free entry into Dubbo Zoo. It actually works out cheaper for us to buy lunch than to buy a child's entry to the zoo.
We dropped by the adventure playground for the kids to have a break before going to Mt Panorama.
There were actually quite a few cars driving around. Although it is a standard road for most of the year, it is still set up like a race track as opposed to other races like the GC 600. All the starting grid and signs are permanently there. It is an exciting track, one that we would both like to do a "hotlap" on one day.
We drove a little further into the state forest Macquarie Woods and found lots of other campers already set up. We found a nice place to camp overlooking a lake and had a lazy afternoon. Macquarie Woods is a pine plantation and they had some interesting information boards around about the process of growing and harvesting the trees. This species of pine (Radiata) is native to North America and the final harvest takes place between the trees being 30-35 years old.
