Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
We started the day with a walk up to Genoa Peak. It was a 2 hour return trip with most of it being a slight incline and getting steep at the end. A two hour bush walk also meant we had a 2 hour conversation with our chatterbox Zach! He never runs out of things to say when we’re walking. It was shaded almost all the way which was great. Matt is noticing a big difference carrying Liam now compared to the start of the trip with him being heavier. I think the walk down was almost as hard as going up due to there being so much leaf litter that it was quite slippery. And because of this I was trying to hold Zach's hand but the track was only wide enough for one person which made it hard. The views at the top were worth the walk up. The peak is 490m high and well fenced in so it was perfect for a little picnic which was just big enough for all of us.
We then drove down to Mallacoota for lunch at Bastion Point and the boys had a play at the beach. This little town would be a great holiday destination and it seems everyone else thinks so too seeing they have the largest caravan park I’ve seen. It is also great as it is directly on the water and there are heaps of jetties making it the perfect spot to bring boats to.
We saw a platypus in the river at camp right on sunset this evening.
