Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
The wind has settled down a lot today but we decide there isn’t much to do here unless you go on a boat tour which I wasn’t interested in this time. So we drove on stopping at Stony Creek bridge which is the longest wooden trestle bridge in the southern hemisphere. Built in 1916, it is 276m long and 19m high. It is interesting to look at and worth the short detour off the highway.
We got to our camp just after lunch and now are only approximately only 15km from the NSW border. This is one of my favourite free camps (although technically it isn’t free because they ask for donations which I am happy to pay to keep these awesome places open). It's a nice grassed, open area with flush toilets & showers, although cold, a good playground and even tennis courts.
There are chickens wandering around (although they are terrified of people) and cows across the road.
We found a pleasant surprise when we explored the river which is quite shallow and it was nice and warm. So we spent a fair bit of time mucking around down here and whilst we were, we came across quite a few sinkholes. The biggest one was about 1m deep. The rest of the day was the kids playing and adults resting = good afternoon :-)
