Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
After packing up we did the Kalarranga Lookout walk which was a short 1.5km. After being disappointed yesterday by Palm Valley, I really enjoyed this walk. It was easy and had great views. This walk was nice but I wouldn't say it was worth the detour and slow drive in.
Along the way to Kings Canyon we went to Tyler's Pass which is a nice lookout over Gosse's Bluff. (Named after William Gosse, a surveyor who named Ayers Rock) We then took the 6km drive into Gosse's Bluff which is a comet crater. It is worth the drive in with a short walk up to some very nice views.
We then stopped at Morris Park Lookout for lunch which is also a free camp. It has a nice outlook and plenty of space but there were also quite a few flies, bees and toilet paper around. We chose to camp at Kings Canyon Resort arriving at 2pm and am glad it wasn’t any later as there were quite a few vans lined up behind us. All powered sites were booked and there wasn’t much choice in where to park unpowered especially trying to get a double space so we can be with Dad & Jodie. It is quite a nice campground and they have live music which we are unfortunately missing due to tired kids and wanting an early start tomorrow. There is a nice pool but too cold to swim in and a playground that requires some maintenance with parts missing. We saw quite a few dingoes around camp early evening. We went up to watch the sun set on the viewing platform. It was nice but nothing spectacular.
