Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
This morning we went to Florence Falls and had a swim in another beautiful spot.
Then just for curiosity we thought we would drive through the Florence Falls campgrounds. They have a 2wd and 4wd accessed campgrounds of which I think Florence Falls 2wd was my favourite of all in Litchdfield. Driving through the 4wd campground ended up being a mistake as shortly after leaving we lost another tyre! The inside sidewall was sliced, we are assuming from a sharp rock through the 4wd track.....This was our assumption until talking to a guy a week later. He also had the Cooper tyres and had the same sidewall split which he also assumed was from a rock. This was until the Cooper's Rep told him it was actually a fault in these tyres. So whether it was a rock or just a dud tyre, either way more money was spent on repairs for the car!
Arriving at Douglas-Daly National Park we set up camp and I think its campground is great. Besides all the dirt it is a massive open flat area with a few trees for shade. There are tables, fire pits, toilets and showers. The best part was the hot springs were right next to the campground with only 20 steps to get to it. It's a beautiful clear stream with nice trees and quite a few birds around. The best spot where the hot and cold mixes is a relatively small section but you can walk further along and easily find a spot all to yourself. The other “hot springs” in the area aren’t hot whereas these are. Touch where the bubbles are and its burning. We all had a REALLY good sleep after this. As good as the hot springs were, the weather is quite warm so it was a bit nicer to be in the cool sections. The creek was perfect depth for the kids and there are some nice rapids to hold onto the nearby rocks and relax in.
