After the excitment of Queenstown we headed a little further south to Dunedin on the East coast. After seeing so many small towns, in fact every town we have been to on the south island has been small, it was quite a surprise to us that Dunedin was so big! A small city really.
We headed to Otago Peninsula about half an hour away from the town, here there was a lot of wildlife such as sea lions and Albatrose, but of course we chose to go to a penguin reserve instead!! In this reserve they mainly had Yellow Eyed Penguins, but they do also have a few Blue penguins. We saw a couple of fur seals from quite close which was really cool, and we saw one penguin sleeping in his hut. Unfortunately we only saw one penguin coming out of the water which was the main event and that was really far away. We were really disappointed but the guide took us to the penguin hospital on the reserve where we did get to see a few more.
We went to Cadbury's World, the supplier for the chocolate across New Zealand and parts of Australia. We had a lot fo fun here, especially because we got given lots of freebies and felt very sick after eaten all of them!! They have loads of different chocolates here that we dont get at home, but then they also dont have all the bars that we do get, like Double Deckers and Twirls!! They have already started making easter eggs for next year which we thought was crazy, they make 4 times more easter eggs than the population of New Zealand!!
What we found funny when we were here was that there is a worlds steepest street... and we went on it and it really was pretty steep!! Nicks attempt at running down it was very amusing, never mind driving up it!!
