So after two weeks in the moderately cold New Zealand we headed to the extremely warm island of Samoa in the South Pacific!! We spent two days in the capital, Apia where we did some general site seeing and a little window shopping, and we also had a night out there which was awesome as the people in the club we went to were so friendly and kept coming up and talking to us and making us feel really welcome. Was a really good night.
The day after we headed to the south coast where the tropical beaches awaited us! It was paradise down there and the location of our accommodation was perfect. We had what the Samoan's call 'fales' which are open shacks basically with plastic sides but they lie right on the beach jus 20 metres away. Really not a bad way to fall asleep at night!!!
As you can imagine we spent most of the week trying to enjoy the sun, and we say trying because 30% of the time it really wasnt too sunny, and did tend to rain quite often. The locals said it was strange weather because it was there dry season and it rarely rains!! There was a wedding whilst we were there also, an amazing place to have it but unfortunately for the bride it was the day it rained all day long :S. When the sun did come out it was too good and the water was really warm... We went snorkelling quite a few times, we never imagined how many fish are actually in so far, so many tropical fish and bright blue star fish amongst the coral, just a whole other world down there!
We met loadsa cool people there, and played alot of volleyball and stuff with the Samoans. We went on a tour to an ocean trench which was a big pool of water 40 metres down and we got to swim in it which was pretty cool and the current in there was really strong as the water comes through from the ocean on the other side of the rocks! Sometimes when the tide is low you can actually swim under the rocks to the ocean but the day we went was quite bad so we didnt get the chance, but we were more relieved as it did look quite sketchy!!
