We decided to spend our Easter holidays enjoying some of the things going on in Melbourne and also experiencing a bit of Tasmania.
We took a train ride out of the city and up into the Dandenong ranges. This is a National Park and as you walk into the thick forest there is a lovely smell of eucalyptus. We spotted quite a few kookaburras and enjoyed the chance to breath some very fresh air.
We visited the Melbourne aquarium (not worth the visit) but managed to get in free as teachers.
Over the last couple of weeks the comedy festival has been underway in Melbourne. It's closely related to the Edinburgh fringe festival with loads of comedy around the city. We went to see Ross Nobel (some good British humour). Very funny and clever but at times a bit crazy. We also went to see a comedy about teaching, almost funny because it was so bad. We went to see a late night comedy with a few different commedians but I am unable to comment on this after i fell asleep after a few to many red wines!
Nick took me to see Jack Johnson at the Melbourne Music Bowl. We thought of you Mand and J. It was a bit of a cold night but we smuggled in some wine to keep us warm. He sound really good live and did a great acoustic set at the end.
We have been loving the start of the Aussie rules season, it's massive here in Victoria, crowds of 40/50,000 per game. We have become true 'Western bulldogs' supporters thanks to Ben (check out my scarf) working for them. It is an awesome game, high scoring with a massive oval and loads of people on the ground at the same time. We have put on a few picks to give you a gist. We haven't missed a game yet which means Nick is eating lots of pies!
Come on the doggies!!!
