Great Ocean Road Trip
We headed east out of the city stopping off at Brighton Beach on the way. It's a small beach with pretty old fashioned beach huts and an impressive backdrop of the city skyline in the distance. Then onto the Mornington Peninsula. We loved this area, the green rolling hills reminded us of home and the many boutique wineries meant we managed to fit in a bit of wine tasting on route.
From here we got the ferry across Port Philip Bay to Queenscliff and headed down the famous 'Great Ocean Road'. This is a beautiful route which hugs the coastline and has loads of pretty places to stop along the way. Our first stop was 'Bells Beach', which is famous for holding the rip curl pro and also as the beach in Point Break. Then we stopped briefly at 'Airies Inlet' to take a picture of the lighthouse where 'Round the Twist' is filmed. Finally, we arrived in lovely Lorne and had a chilled evening walking along the beach.
