Wow! What a first week. Busy busy busy, so finally Nick got rewarded with a trip to the Aussie Open Tennis.

Stinking hot day as usual and lots of sun-tan cream and hat-wearing. It was a really good day, with lots of decent players still on the outside courts. We got ground passes despite the fact that show court tickets were pretty cheap. Managed to see the Bryan Brothers (World Number 1 Mens doubles pair), the Williams Sisters playing doubles, Leyton and Roger warming up and lots more stuff.

The Aussies here are totally gripped by the tournament and its been a really good one. Don't know how much has made it's way back to England... Big news was Murray getting knocked out in the first round (but by Tsonga, eventual finalist), Roger Rasheed (Aussie commentator) getting in trouble for perving over Venus Williams' arse on live tv (typical of the people here that they just say what they think all the time), Leyton Hewitt making it a fair way and playing one match until 4.30am, Federer and Nadal getting knocked out before the final, Joe-Wilfred Tsonga making it to the final.

The place was packed the day we were there, and loads to do like winner-stays-on mini-tennis (zoe lost it for us but the oppo kept hitting at the girl so fair tactics I say), serve speed, shopping, free hair products (not for Nick).

It's true what they say that the Australians are sports mad. Especially in Melbourne which is called the sports capital of Australia... Other events coming up that we're going to include the India-Australia Twenty20 Cricket at the MCG (should be awsome), Grand Prix, AFL games and lots more.
