Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
We wanted to go see the Viking Ship in Oslo. Holland America had a tour there but our table mates told us how to take the local ferry across the bay and then we could walk to it. It was great advice. After looking at the very well preserved ship, we wanted to take the ferry back to the main part of Oslo. We were in a residential neighborhood. We made a left when we should have made a right and we got a little lost. One of the many great things about Scandinavia is that most of the people speak English. We approached man and asked if he spoke English. He said in very good English, "Ya, what to you need". He gave us directions back to the ferry dock. When we got back to downtown, we needed to find a place where we could get some US dollars. American Express is handy - we found a bank with an Amex sign and were able to get some USD with our credit card. We did some exploring of Oslo, visiting the Royal Palace. Oslo is a very clean and modern city. After a few hours of exploring, we headed back to the ship for a beautiful sail away.
