We played on the wild side today. We duplicated yesterday's plan of attack. We hustled to Animal Kingdom 30 minutes before opening with 5000 other people. Ugh. We again, zigged and zagged through crowds to make it to the safari mainly for Elizabeth who wanted to see the animals. It is another attraction that has long lines. We made our way into the line and never stopped. We got
to the front and a guy asked me if we waited long. I said that we had never stopped. He asked if we were in the huge crowd? I told him we were at the gate before they opened. I asked him if he waited in line and he said he had a fast pass. Ooooh. That's why so many questions. He had a fast pass and we made it at the same time. Oh and when you wait to enter Africa to get to the safari, a really cool thing happens. They release about 10 giant colorful parrots out of somewhere. They fly over the crowd squawking. It was so beautiful. They land to eat and take off again when they release the crowd. So cool. Breathtaking. Disney just knows what they are doing.
See the key to Disney is...1: Fast Passes. Book them as early as you can for the rides you know you want to go on and/or that have long lines. 2: Get their app. It links your tickets, Fastpasses and has wait times and maps. I used it everyday, all day. 3. Go at opening to hit rides that will have long lines later and hit them first. Today we did Safari and Kilaminjaro Rafts first thing. 4. Bring snacks to eat in line. 5. Learn about rides and shows to find out times. We had a fast pass for the Nemo Show. At first, I thought it was dumb because they let so many people in. But, in fact the 3:00 PM show has a break so they let the 2:30 FP in to sit in air condition. After all the FPs were inside, then they let everyone else in to fill the rest of the seats.
Paul and I loved Nemo when we saw it 8 years ago. It didn't disappoint again. What a fabulous show. Disney you need to make a Nemo Jr. Production!!!!!! I sat there thinking, I could make those masks. We could do those sets. What a great show. Then I remember how great our Lion King production was.
The pre-finale ride was Everest. It is a rollercoaster disguised as Mt. Everest looming over the park with shrieks and screams coming from it. I am not a roller coaster gal or a thrill rider until the past couple of years on our trips. I got a Fast Pass for us knowing Ben needed some thrills. As we approached, my nerves strarted up. Ben and I looked up the POV (whatever that means) or video of the ride. I feel better knowing what's ahead of me. Well, it's best you don't because it revealed that we would be traveling backward. WT! I can do this. Let me tell you, it was so fun. I'll admit it made me dizzy but I have bad motion sickness and however we traveled backward in the dark, it made me dizzy. It is really a fun ride. Not all that scary. I had a little lemon ice and my constitution was settling. I think I laughed and smiled the whole time. Paul said I was funny because I was the most nervous and I had my hands up most of the time. Ha.
I think we hit every ride and attraction that interested us. It was a really fun day as agreed by all. This wasn't even a planned day. We had three days left on our Disney tickets that we saved for this trip. We came, we saw, we rode, we ate, we kicked it's butt. thank you Disney.
Tomorrow we head out to Atlanta then probably spend the night in Tennesee. Home is where the family is. Except we are missing our pups.
Home soon.
