What a great day at Disney. Fortunately, the family climbed on board the Momma Train and trusted me once again. We got to the park at 8 AM. Parking was super easy. I knew we also needed to adjust our lifetime tickets to accommodate the fact that Ben and Elizabeth are now adult tickets. They do this for free. Yay! It took a few minutes. The guy, Landon to be exact, said, "Since I took so long and you are guys are so nice, I'm giving you a fast pass for any ride any time. " YOu can imagine the squeal of delight that came out of me. We already had three passes I lined up a month ago and now we had four. Happy dance.
The crowds that early are great. We made our way to some short line rides before using our timed fast passes. So fun and different experiencing Disney when they are older. We went on Aladdin Carpets, Western Mine Ride, Pirates of Caribean, Haunted Mansion, Tea Cups, Space Mountain, LILO and Stitch, Monster Laugh Floor, Merry Go Round, speedway, Hall of Presidents and the Barnstormer. We were there from 8-530 with a lunch in the middle. Everyone's favorite ride was Space Mountain and it was awesome to use the extra fast pass for it. The wait would have been 125 minutes. WTH! We also mugged for the camera on splash Mountain. Matthew chickened out. It's tradition to do something funny in front of the camera. Look it up.
The weather was perfect. It was warm but being overcast, it wasn't blazing hot.
Recommendations: Order fast passes month or more in advance, get there early, be nice to Disney workers (they can give out fast passes), anticipate hungry before hangry sets in (we've learned this on the trip) and pack snacks for in between meals while waiting in line.
Also, don't tell them you have a glutin allergy if it's just an intolerance in which there are some things you can eat and other things (like bread) that you can't. They will stop the line, call a manager who will interrogate you to make sure you won't die from some food allergy even when you tell them it is an intolerance. "But there is "starch" in the Bbq sauce." I know, it's ok. I just don't want the bun. "Ok, your meal will show up on a green tray." Ok, great. Then they write down your name and what you ordered for the record. It is nice to know they have a gluten free menu and they take precautions but next time, I'll just thrown the damn bun in the garbage.
So, it was a great day at the Happiest Place on Earth...at least until you are leaving. Everyone goes in smiling and excited as they prance through the gates. Everyone leaving can hardly break a smile, kids are whining and crying as they shuffle their way to their cars to reenergize and do it all over again. If you told me we had to go back tonight, I think I'd cry of exhaustion.
Now we are back at the house swimming. Paul made chicken fajitas while I watced the kids in the pool. Delish. Max and relax time...maybe a little wine time in the hottub. Ahhhhh.
Tomorrow is undecided.
