Wow! Another amazing day at Epcot. Everything went so smoothly. We were so worried about Spring Break and the crowds. It really wasn't that bad and Disney just knows how to herd people, feed people and make people happy.
We left at 8 AM to arrive in the lot before 8:30 AM and be at the gate before it opened At 9 AM. Apparently, a lot of people got that memo. I, once again, told everyone to trust me and when I say run.....RUN!! Once we filtered through the check-in, I said, "Run!" We bolted for Test Track. It is one of the most popular rides at Epcot. We ran, we zigged, we zagged, we pushed (not really) and we kept running We ran to wait again behind a couple hundred other people with a couple hundred(s) more behind us. The park wasn't officially open yet. It was like waiting for the starting pistol at a marathon race. Everyone was calculating their strategy for getting to the ride. No joke. Including me. They freed us and it was a free-for-all to the line, just to wait again. We got there and it was already at a 30 minute wait. 15 outside and 15 inside with cool things to looks at. The ride was amazing. We created our own car then they tested the features against the others in your car to see whose was better. Ben and Paul won out of three cars. Then it was out to the test track to make a fast race around. Loved it. We all did.
That was the most stressful part of the day. The rest of the rides don't have lines that long. The most we waited today was maybe 30 minutes. We had 3 fast passes but we missed one. The space ride was cool. You had to choose one of two lines. Easy training and advanced training. Advanced meant losing my lunch. They spin you really fast. No thanks. Elizabeth and I chose easy, then Matthew joined us and then Ben and Paul joined us because their line was twice as long of a wait than ours (30 minutes or 60). Another choice to make was whether you can stand small spaces and motion sickness. Oh joy. Paul threw a glance of, "can you do this?" If I could get into the Oompa Loopma Pod in the St. Louis Arch, then I can do this (see last year's trip on this blog). Well, we sat down. Good. Shoulder bars came down. Good. Door closes. Good. Front wall panel slides forward leaving about 6 inches from your face to the control panel. WTF! Fortunately, there was air blowing. I had a teeny bit of panic setting in. If the air went off or we were stuck in there, this would be a different story. I closed my eyes and thought of my happy place. When the ride started, it took my mind off the coffin I voluntarily climbied into.
Everyone really enjoyed Epcot. For lunch, we made our way to World Showcase. We decided to eat something from most of the countries. We had fish and chips in the UK, Duck Confi and beans and an onion tart in France and Oodon Beef and noodles and Chicken Edamame dumpling at Japan. They didn't have sushi today in Japan. Really? We ate Chicken Parm and Mezzaluna Primavera in Italy (my homeland), lamb, hummus, couscous and tabouli in Moracco and a Spring Roll and Gaoli Beef bun in China.
I tried everything but being glutin free and dairy free makes for a problem eating on the fly like that. They kids ate everything. I keep saying this but they are such adventurous eaters.
We finished out the park and left around 5. Guess where the kids are now? In the pool. They think about it all day. We unanimously requested chicken fajitas again from Chef Paul. They were even more delicious today. I am un"wine"ding poolside with a possible dip in the hottub later.
Maybe see you at Animal Kingdom tomorrow. Undecided.
