Amazeballs! What a fun day had by all. The Wisconsin Dells is a little over an hour from Madison where we spent the night. Since we were arriving earlier than check-in, we decided to check out the jet boat tours of the Dells. We have done the Duck Boats and have unanimously decided to call them Duck Boring after our Boston ride. We wanted a thrill and that they provided.
The Wild Thing Jet Boat is Powerful. . .360° Spins, Power Stops, 1500 hp thrusting through the Upper Dells Glacial Park's towering rock formations, narrows & palisades. Combination fast & slow guided tour with 16 points of scenic interest. It was great. We got soaked. Matthew smiled for 1 hour straight. A record. This woman brought her teeny Yorkie dog in its soft carrier on the boat. Dumb-a$&. The dog was soaked and shaking when they took it out. Poor thing.
We checked into our hotel, Cedar Lodge and Settlement. Its a few minutes from the chaos of the water parks on a quiet lake. They have lodge rooms and small cabins. We stayed on the 2nd floor, room 19 of the lodge. The rooms are so unique and nice. Each is like its own little log cabin with beautiful furniture. Very clean. Nice balcony overlooking the lake. Bon fires at night. Close to everything but peaceful and quiet. I don't want to toot my own horn but I am good at finding nice places that fit the mood I want in a location. My family agrees that I'm good at it.
Then on to what we really came here for....Waterparks. I was not all that gung-ho about going. I am not a thrill rider...UNTIL TODAY!! It was so much fun. Our hotel provided free waterpark tickets to both Chula Vista (indoor/outdoor) and Noah's Ark (one of the first waterparks) for our entire stay including the day you leave. The room was like 225 a night for a queen bunk bed and another queen sleeping 5 to 6 plus 10 $30 waterpark tickets (5 for each park). Crazy. Don't ask me how that adds up.
Noah's Ark is a great place. Clean and FUN. Burt the Conquerer filmed there when he rode the Scorpian. Paul rode it too. You get in a tube, stand there for a count down and the bottom drops out. Craaazy! See video of the ride. http://youtu.be/KvXN9KzIAE8
We all rode the Anaconda. It is the longest "Water Coaster" anywhere? in the country? I don't know but I'm not going to lie when I say I almost wet myself. I went on with Elizabeth and I was scared. I almost chickened out. At the top we found out we were too light to go on alone which I thought that might be our last minute out but nooo, a kind person said they'd ride with us. This is where the swear word came into play. BUT IT WAS AWESOME!!! We both loved it.
Then I was coerced into risking my life on the Stingray (for stupid people). BUT IT WAS AWESOME!!! See pix. Yes it was scary but fun. We went on everything together. We had a great day. Finished off with a pizza and now I am typing in bed and everyone is sawing logs in our log cabin room. I highly recommend this trip for a weekend or a week. Stay here. You won't be in skeevy-town but you are near the fun.
More waterpark fun tomorrow then off to Minneapolis. Say hi in comments if you are reading these.
