This morning we woke up and went in the tuktuk as usual...to be returned back to the homestay as the weather was having it's own party. It was pouring down so bad and the roads were blocked as it was flooded. Some lorries and buses wouldn't work because of the depth of the water. It was rising quite fast and it became impossible for us to get to our project. Which was a shame so we returned home to see some other hearing volunteers aswell. They couldn't reach their projects so we all stayed home which was weird as it has never happened before so we all chilled. I did lots of lessons planning and I was becoming so excited to use these lesson plans to teach the kids at the school!
It was really pouring down all day and we planned to go out for a meal. Me and Sara was relieved when the rain changed to drizzle so we walked to the pub in our raincoat. When we arrived at the pub, everyone was there apart from Will who was at the gym and we ordered some drinks. They ordered beer, ew and then we ordered the food. I wasn't feeling hungry so I ordered chips! It was such a good night. Will later then joined us! Sara and I chatted with Charles and Will for the most of the night...then we realised the time.. we had to be back at the house at 9.30 cos they always lock up at that time so we rushed off and got tuktuk back!
We had decided to stay at the homestay for the weekend to save some money because we spent so much last weekend. It was a lovely relaxing weekend, we went to market to find out it was food market and we were gutted it was not clothes! We had our lunch at the bakery along with cold drinks which was so lovely on a hot day. We went to photo studio to get our photo taken as we needed to extend our visa after 30 days so we got that done. Then got some photos printed so we could do our scrapbooks. I have started a scrapbook on my experience in Sri Lanka, it's going well so far and to print photos here is so CHEAP compared to England! The dinners we had over the weekend was luxury. First night we cooked pasta with meatball sauce and night after that we ordered pizzas from pizza hut! We were so full and very happy after that weekend!
On Monday 5th I somehow felt so emotional so I decided to come to Yasintha to talk to her and I end up crying. I still have no idea what has come over me that day but I wasn't in the right mood all morning. But later on that day, we chatted with few other volunteers and Charles asked a silly question about our alarm clock so Sara and I thought of a good idea. We decided to put my alarm clock under his pillow, set for 4.15am so we left it there and went to bed. Next morning I texted him asking him how did he sleep? He told me that it was a nice try but he found it in the middle of night so it didn't set off..damn.
I am so surprised it is November already, so we got about 3 weeks left before we end our project, by thinking about it makes me feel sad, even though there are days I get fed up, or frustrated. But I got through, didn't give up and I am proud of myself.
Going to make most of it as before we know it, I will be back at home and carry on living my life.
