Sara and I travelled on a bus for about four hours to Kandy. We were so glad to be out of the bus when we arrived at Kandy bus station. We then took a tuk to the hotel where we were staying at. The room was lovely, a clean bathroom with hot water and they provided some toiletries. We both went up the roo ftop for the dinner, we ordered pancakes and a pot of tea. We had a personal driver for Friday so we discussed things over with him. His name was Pet and he kindly charged us very cheap for the day trips for Friday. So we were really excited for Friday! We ate our pancakes a bit awkwardly because Pet was there all the time. When we were done, we headed off to our bedroom and we were knackered. I had a hot shower then I went to bed and slept pretty good!
On Friday we woke up quite early to leave for the trips we have planned for the day. So first we went to the tea factory which was really interesting to see as it was very detailed and I honestly see tea differently now as we take tea for granted in UK. They work really hard to make them and packaged them very carefully which was very impressive to look at. We also saw the plantation before the tea factory. Then we visited the gem factory where I bought a pretty ring with my birthstone in triangular shape, so pleased I bought it and Sara bought one for herself.
We then travelled to the spice garden which was weird as it was interesting in some parts and rest of it we were just bored out of our brains, the man who was showing us around was just annoying me and we just had to follow him until it was done. But we agreed it was worth it because we are in Sri Lanka and we may aswell to do much as we can nevermind how boring it could be. We then an hour to look around in the market, straight away we had a man following us trying to make us buy his things which just annoyed us after we went in different four shops so I told him to go away. He didn't listen, so we had to become a bit more rude so we told him to go away in rude way and he listened. I felt a little bad! I bought few things for family and friends for Christmas so I'm pretty excited to wrap them up!
At 5pm we travelled to the place where they do dance show linked to Kandy's culture so we paid and had good seats. I had coke whereas Sara had a diet coke. At 5.30pm it all started so we were taking lots of photos, some of the dances were amazing and just unbelievable. There were couple times Sara and I exchanged looks because it was so rubbish. But overall it was great fun and the ending just blew us away! They had fire dance and also walked on the fire path. It was really close to us so we had great view of everything!!
After this show we went to the temple of the tooth and had a peek around. There were a long queue for the viewing of the tooth up close so we queued for ages so we gave up and went around to busy area where they were waiting for the gold wall to open up. Behind the gold wall was the tooth so I waited there, and when it opened I took few pictures before everyone pushed in! But the temple was very beautiful, very detailed and the statues were huge.
When we were done, we went back to the hotel to chill and Stephen joined in around 10pm. We all showered and chatted for a while before heading off to bed.
