After being on a 12 hours long flight with Francesca and Sandra. I was really shattered, I felt sick and I was so pleased to be out of the plane. But the heat was unbelievable, I sort of thought 'seriously..this hot for 8 weeks?' It was so daft of me as I knew it would be hot but just didn't expected it would be THAT HOT. A hearing volunteer called Cat was there too on the arrival. We all decided to get some cash, and my card got declined. I was frustrated as I really needed some money. So I decided to wait and ask Sophie for help when I arrive at the homestay. Mr Neill arrived in a suit literally, I couldn't believe how he could in this heat! We all huddled in an old van with broken boot door so we had to shove our bags in. I and Fran kept freaking out during our ride as it was so dangerous, lots of busy activity happening and had very few traffic lights so it was all hectic. Had few near misses!! It was a rough ride so when we arrived, we were so pleased then suddenly I felt uncomfortable.. six dogs, rough house, and when I walked in, it was just so hot..Sophie wasn't there so I felt really weird..Sara then woke up and met us. I found out that I wasn't staying in the volunteers house...I was at next door's, the room was so horrible, yellow wall with grey drips of cement, holes, lots of ants...I really felt s***. Then got introduced to two hearing girls volunteers Beth and Rosie, they were so lovely - took us to the food city where we bought loo rolls (thank god for that), some coke and water. We had dinner, oh my.. my tongue has been through so much, poor thing. THE FOOD IS UNBELIEVABLY SPICY! I love spicy food but this spicy.. NO WAY. I felt really upset as it was just a huge change in my life.. for next 8 weeks. In this heat, horrible room, dogs and the spicy food. Felt it was a mistake for me to do this trip at this very day.
