Well, well, whale. What a day we have had . Selected this photo from many we have taken today. Not sure if it's any good. May be just a fluke shot! Amongst the best 3 hours we have ever spent. Two sperm whales, two types of albatross, Wandering and Royal Southern, maybe 200 or so dusky dolphins and petrels on a clear and cloudless sky. For those of you struggling to work out the picture, the blue stuff at the top is the sky and the blue stuff at the bottom is the sea. Couldn't have asked for more really. Tomorrow we move on to Christchurch and hand the motorhome back on Sat pm before flying to Wellington for a couple of days, including a day at the test match hopefully, before our trip back up to Auckland and flight to the Cook Islands. Will be in touch again when we get back to Wellington.

Laura So glad you got to see whales, and from that pic it looks like they were really close. We're having sunshine with our snow showers here, not too dissimilar to the blue skies you're getting....
Steve Lucas Superb photograph Mike - just like what you would see on any postcard or poster - well done you ! The Whale Watch trip is still something I have yet to do as my trip in 2003 was cancelled due to bad weather. One day soon ! If you get a chance, stop off in Hanner Springs on the way back to ChCh and chill out in the Spa. Au revoir ! S & J xx
Steve Lucas To read Hanmer Springs !
