Had a great time driving up to the Otago wine lands. We had a tasting at Felton Rd in Bannockburn and a tasting and lunch at Carrick winery. We were too late for lunch but the waiter went to ask chef and he agreed to feed us. We ate in an empty restaurant with a view across the vineyard to Dunstan Lake. Was OK! We hav
E also had a scenic train ride through a deep gorge out of Dunedin. Stayed in Bannockburn and then drove south again, staying in Gore overnight. Too much driving so took it easy today, sightseeing and visiting some local beaches. Took this photo on a beach near here. It is a sea lion and cub. There were 20-30 sea lions on the two beaches we visited. Also seen some more fur seals as well as Sooty Shearwaters. Still no whales or albatross in sight. Found a good beer, Monteiths Original. Get some in for April Rich! Weather deteriorating. Although 28 at 4.30 in Gore yesterday, dropped to 15 by this morning. Cloudy and drizzly as I write this.
