Picture is us enjoying our meal at the Boat Shed Cafe last evening. Lazy start this morning, set off at 10 and drove to Havelock to see if it was the mussel capital of NZ. When we got there it said they were the mussel capital of the world. Self proclaimed no doubt so we had to put it to the test. A bit early for lunch when we arrived so we set off to walk up an appetite. Lovely marina and museum and by coincidence we arrived at the Mussel Pot just as lunch was about to be served. We've been very lucky on this holiday! Ordered a mixed platter of mussels for 2. There were steamed, smoked, marinated, tempura fried, with chilli sauce, garlic butter all served with a mussel chowder and bread. Just about managed it. Then on to Blenheim where we have parked for the night. Arrived by 3 so what to do now? Visit a winery, we thought. Bet you had already guessed that! Visited 3, the first being Cloudy Bay-yes THE Cloudy Bay. Excellent tasting and superbly supported by the two that followed. Intend to see more of Blenheim tomorrow before setting off for Kaikoura for 3 nights relaxation.

Steven Lucas Kia Ora ! Kaikoura is my spiritual home - spent many a happy time there since my first visit in 1997. It has a great golf course between the sea and the Kaikouras mountain range. 'Kai' is Maori for 'food' and Koura for 'Crayfish' and it is pretty special there. There are two very good restaurants - one is called Hislops and the other is The Green Dolphin. Hope you get lucky with the Whale Watch ! Very envious ! Ciao for now ! Steve
mikeyvonnewarren Hi Steve, thanks for info. Previous pic was taken on Golden Bay as you suggested. Hope the weather improves before we get home. If test still on Sunday we are going as we have some sort of executive entry compliments of our sister in laws brother. He is a member at the ground but only watches the rugby. England rugby seems to be going well.
Laura I'm pretty sure you said you weren't going to spend your time wine tasting......can't blame you on the Cloudy Bay opportunity though :)
